As the UK’s only CPD and IWGE Accredited White Goods Repair Training Centre, The White Goods Training Academy was set-up to help fill the skills gap that exists in this sector. Our aim is to increase understanding and knowledge of current appliances, fault finding, diagnosis and repair to enable newly qualified appliance service engineers to start their new career with confidence and the skills they need.
Office worker to Appliance Engineer – Mr Sharmanath
Mr Sharmanath worked for many years as a analyst at Neff but always had a desire to join his colleges in the field. He tried to gain training through Neff but kept coming up against dead ends until he came across The Whitegoods Training Academy at The Institute for White Goods Engineers.
After making his initial enquiries in 2013 Mr Sharmanath had soon booked himself onto our, now CPD accredited, 224 Appliance Repair Training Courses where he gained valuable knowledge an skills in testing and repairing washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, ovens, microwaves and fridge freezers.
Post Course- Since successfully completing the appliance repair training course, Mr Sharmanath honed the skills he had gained on our appliance repair training course on evenings and weekends with customers he started to advertise for. This allowed him to demonstrate competency and experience.
In 2015 an opportunity arose to work for Hoover Candy. He applied for the job as a field service engineer and was successful. Five years on Mr Sharmanath is still enjoying his position as field service engineer with Hoover Candy

Account Executive to Appliance Engineer – Mr Smith-Love
Mr Smith-Love worked for many years as an Sales Account Executive at Qualtex, its was during this time that his desire to retrain started. In 2019 he enrolled on our CPD accredited 224 Consumer Electrical Appliance Repair & Servicing Training and our 227 Refrigeration Repair Training Course. and during his training he gained valuable knowledge an skills in testing and repairing washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, ovens, microwaves and fridge freezers.
Post Course- Since successfully completing the appliance repair training course, Mr Smith-Love went on to set up his own appliance repair business, Yorkshire Appliance Repairs.

Dental Technician to Appliance Engineer – Mr Wels
Mr Wels worked as a dental technician and due to an impending marriage needed to relocate. Following a job offer he was sent on our CPD accredited 224 Consumer Electrical Appliance Repair & Servicing Training and our 227 Refrigeration Repair Training Course. and during his training he gained the necessary skills in testing and repairing washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, ovens, microwaves and fridge freezers.
